How To Meal Prep In A Hotel Room

Living out of a hotel when you travel for work is probably one of the hardest obstacles I have faced when it has come to getting in or staying in shape!

So when I worked in the oilfield I took a George Foreman Grill and a rice steamer with me everywhere I went!

I also had a backpack that I packed with a cutting board, a few knives, a spatula, a few other cooking utensils and my food scale.

Then when I got to the hotel I would set it all up on the desk in my room and find the closest grocery store!

I would stick with the basics!

Meat, veggies, and rice!

I would get chicken, ground turkey, lean ground beef, white rice, and a few microwavable bags of steamable broccoli or asparagus, and some chicken broth.

(also don't forget disposable containers or ziplock bags to put your meals in while you are prepping them!)

After I got back to the room I would follow these steps!

1. put the rice in the rice cooker with the broth. (1/1 ratio)

2. make ground beef into meatballs and put on top of the rice in the rice cooker before you turn it on. (this will cook your ground beef while your rice is cooking!)

3. turn on the rice cooker

4. start cooking ground turkey on George Foreman. (most of them come with a hot plate style attachment now, or you can shape it in to patties if you want.)

5. While the turkey is cooking get out the cutting board and start cutting your chicken into cubes.

6. turkey and rice will be done about the same time. Weigh out all of your protein on your food scale and then add rice to the meals.

7. You will probably need more rice than you can make at one time in your rice cooker (depending on your meal plan) so after you have emptied it out refill it with rice and broth again.

8. While you are waiting for the second batch of rice to cook you can clean you grill, your cutting board, and whatever other utensils you used.

9. measure out the rest of your rice, and put your meals in the fridge!

10. clean your rice cooker!

This whole process can be done in under an hour and a half and is drastically cheaper than eating out!

It is also obviously better for you than eating out!
